Following these guidelines when submitting work to me in an online class will help
make me happy. They are listed in approximate order of importance:
ATTACHMENT: Unless we have communicated and agreed otherwise, submit the assignment as an
attachment. Don't submit it as the body of an e-mail or by pasting the words into the
submission box in the online classroom. Give me a document I can take onto my hard drive.
NAME, COURSE, DATE, ASSIGNMENT: Include that information at the top of the first page or,
if it is a term paper, make a title page which includes that information. Just because
you are submitting it by e-mail does not mean this information is unnecessary. Many
things can happen to a document between the time you submit it and the time I read it.
Include this vital information within the document itself.
FILE TYPE: You are investing a lot of money in college. Invest a bit more in standard
word processing software so that I don't have to mail back that my computer won't open
your assignment. I prefer a good, old-fashioned Word document.
